Motherhood Project

For the beginnings, the in-between moments, and all the little things you'll miss someday.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about beginnings.

Becoming an empty nester has made me reflect on motherhood in a way I didn't expect. I find myself pulling out the old photographs...the printed ones, the ones I can hold in my hands.

My fingers search the details in each photograph.

Not just the little faces staring back at me, but the deeper details of motherhood that we sometimes dismiss as chaos.

The tiny hands. The chubby cheeks. The little clothes.

And then, in the background, all the pieces of that season I didn't know I would someday miss- the laundry basket, the toys scattered across the floor, the baby teeth just beginning to make an appearance.

They weren't the big moments.

They were the in-between ones.

The authentic, beautiful details of everyday life.

The little things you probably don't realize you'll miss until they're gone.

Why I'm Drawn to Motherhood

I've become increasingly drawn to photographing the beginnings of motherhood—the quiet, blurry, exhausting, completely ordinary moments when a family is becoming something new. The first time you hold your baby. The way a new dad looks at his child when he still can't quite believe they're here. A big brother or sister meeting the baby for the first time. Tiny fingers. Sleepy stretches. Hospital bracelets. The room you brought your baby home to. The way everyone slowly finds their new rhythm. These aren't always the moments we think to photograph. But they're often the ones that become the most meaningful.

The Beauty in the In-Between

I don't believe motherhood needs to look perfect to be beautiful. There is beauty in the tiredness. In the mess. In the tenderness. In the laughter. In the moments when everyone is figuring it out as they go. My approach is documentary-inspired and lifestyle-focused. I'll offer gentle direction when it's helpful, but I'm much more interested in what happens naturally between the planned moments: the way your toddler reaches for you, the way your partner looks at you, the tiny hand wrapped around your finger, the toys on the floor, the imperfectly made bed, the quiet pause after everyone settles.

For the Moments You'll Miss

Someday, you'll look back at these photographs and remember more than what everyone looked like. You'll remember how small they were. How tired you were. What your home looked like. How your partner held the baby. The little things you didn't know you were already beginning to miss. That's what I want to give you. Photographs that don't just show you what this chapter looked like, but remind you what it felt like.

This Chapter Is Yours

If you're expecting a baby and want to preserve this beginning in a way that feels honest, relaxed, and true to your family, I'd love to hear from you.
